Accident injures one on I-269

The Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP) Tuesday morning provided information regarding a traffic accident that took place Monday morning on state Highway 305 near I-269.

A 209 Mack truck driven by Willie Bell, age 41 of Byhalia and driving south on 305, collided with a 2017 Freightliner driven by Marcus Summers, age 39 of Jackson. Summers was driving east on the exit ramp of I-269 and was in the process of making a left turn onto the state highway when the collision occurred. 

Bell was injured as a result of the collision and taken to Region One Health in Memphis. The accident took place at about 9:20 a.m. Monday morning.

MHP continues its investigation into the accident and its cause. 

Assisting in the accident were fire departments from Lewisburg, Olive Branch and Hernando, DeSoto County Sheriff’s Department and Emergency Services, and the Hospital Wing helicopter that transported the injured party to the hospital.
