The Southaven Chamber of Commerce announced an upcoming Par Wars: Golf & Games Tournament at Olive Branch Country Club that will feature golf, pickleball and a Star Wars-themed costume contest. The chamber said proceeds will benefit the Southaven Chamber Foundation.

The LeaderSYP Conference, organized by Southaven Young Professionals, is offering sponsorship packages starting at $100 to fund student attendance and give businesses a chance to connect with young talent, organizers said.

DeSoto County Government said dumpsters will be placed at multiple county locations April 10-19 for a spring cleanup. A separate household hazardous waste collection is set for May 2 at the Landers Center.

A statement this week recognized public safety dispatchers during National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, thanking them for their role in saving lives and supporting first responders.

The 911 dispatch center said it is recognizing its telecommunicators during National Telecommunicators Week, praising their role coordinating emergency responses and their calm demeanor.

The Horn Lake Police Department is accepting applications for an emergency telecommunicator position. Applications must be submitted by 5 p.m. April 19, 2026.

A job posting on the city of Horn Lake’s website says applicants should expect night shifts, paperwork and public disputes, but adds the work is rewarding.

The City of Southaven said Jim Saucier Memorial Park, next to City Hall, was donated by longtime DeSoto County resident Jim Saucier and includes a pavilion, walking trail, playground and a waterfall often used for photos.

Officers from across the country gathered this week for the Fourth Annual Scotty Triplett Motor Rodeo, the Olive Branch Police Department said. Officer Qwazavia Lewis earned second place in the Novice Division, the department said.

The event aims to empower women in the community with networking, food, and business discussions. Registration is now open.
