Local officials said a tornado watch was issued at 9:50 p.m. Monday and will remain in effect until 5 a.m. CDT. The community safe room at 7312 Highway 51 has been opened to all residents.

Ken Adams said the restrooms at the George M. Harrison Soccer Complex in Olive Branch are closed for maintenance and repairs and will reopen Friday, May 1.

Mayor Ken Adams and the Olive Branch Police and Fire departments issued an updated severe weather outlook through 7 a.m., saying strong storms over Missouri are expected to move into the area late this evening and into the early morning.

DeSoto County officials said a tornado watch was issued at 9:46 p.m. April 27 and urged residents to stay weather aware and have a way to receive alerts.

The Hernando Main Street Chamber of Commerce said it hosted Grits & Government last week with keynote speaker Johnathon Bigham, DeSoto County’s search and rescue director.

Modern Woodmen of America and the Olive Branch Chamber of Commerce will hold a joint ribbon-cutting ceremony Wednesday at 3 p.m., organizers said.
