Early damage reports from storms come in

Twenty homes in DeSoto County were damaged from the storms that went through Friday night, March 31, according to early reports by state officials. You can read about the first reports on tornadoes and storm damage from the storms here.

The DeSoto County Sheriff’s Department posted about one of the worst-hit areas in DeSoto County on its Facebook page, that being around Eudora.

The storm system did result in one fatality and four injuries were sustained in Pontotoc County, according to the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency’s Severe Weather Update #1.

MEMA encourages residents with any damage to do the following: 

  • File an insurance claim. 
  • Take photos of the damage. 
  • Report damage to county/MEMA via the self-report tool.
