Southaven Operation Recovers 7 Human Trafficking Victims
SOUTHAVEN — Attorney General Lynn Fitch announced that Mississippi’s participation in a nationwide human trafficking operation centered on Southaven led to the recovery of seven victims.
The operation, conducted September 10, was led by the Attorney General’s Human Trafficking Task Force working alongside the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office, Southaven Police Department and the state’s Alcoholic Beverage Control division. Victim services were provided by Transformation Garden, the Mississippi Coalition Against Human Trafficking and Tabernacle Southaven.
“My office is committed to taking criminals who traffic people off our streets and equally committed to setting victims on the road to recovery,” Fitch said.
The Southaven operation was the 67th led by the task force. Together, those operations have produced 205 arrests and the recovery of 402 victims, including 24 minors. Nationally, the September 10 effort — known as Operation Coast to Coast — recovered 79 victims, including five juveniles, and resulted in 125 arrests across 22 states.
