Garden club provides wreath at Welcome Center

Each year during the Memorial Day holiday weekend, members of the DeSoto Civic Garden Club place a wreath at the Blue Star Memorial which is located at the Welcome Center at I-55 south of Hernando.

This memorial is a tribute to the Armed Forces that have defended the United States of America and also to those veterans who have given their lives in the performance of their military duties while preserving freedom for all.

The vine wreath that the garden club members placed at the memorial was wrapped with red and white stars consisting of a magnolia bloom with leaves.

Club members Rusty Todd and Pat Tennant were joined by Randy Galloway, retired Air Force veteran of 35 years who was traveling from Traverse City, Michigan enroute to Senatobia.

Mr. Galloway’s comment  to the garden club members regarding the significance of the wreath was that of thankfulness to the garden club for all their efforts in honoring all veterans on this special weekend.

The DeSoto Civic Garden Club is a member of the National Garden Clubs, Inc., Deep South Garden Clubs, Inc., and The Garden Clubs of Mississippi, Inc., Hills and Delta District.
