The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency urged residents to maintain multiple ways to receive severe weather warnings, including a City of Olive Branch text alert. The agency’s post listed Olive Branch Mayor Ken Adams and local public safety departments.

The Hernando Main Street Chamber of Commerce said Dr. David Gavel delivered the keynote at its Second Quarterly Luncheon. The chamber credited Sky Lake Construction LLC and Abes Construction Company as sponsors and named two nonprofit exhibitors.

The department thanked its men and women who train and respond to emergencies at a moment’s notice, saying they are a lifeline in the community. It also honored firefighters who died in the line of duty, the department said.

Mayor Ken Adams said the intersection of Pleasant Hill Road and Goodman Road reopened after a crash that had closed the roadway. Officials had urged drivers to use Malone and Davidson roads as alternate routes.

An 8-year-old boy finished a Special Olympics Torch Run 5K in Byhalia, Mississippi, running alongside an Olive Branch police officer, the Olive Branch Police Department said.

Northwest Mississippi Community College congratulated the 2026 graduates of its Utility Line Worker program, saying it is proud and excited for their future. The message appeared in a post from the college.

The BPD said it will deploy extra patrols with the Panola County Sheriff’s Office for Cinco de Mayo and warned it will not tolerate disorderly conduct.
