A tornado watch was issued Tuesday evening and will remain in effect until 10 p.m. CDT, and a community safe room at 7312 Highway 51 has been opened to residents, local officials said.

The City of Olive Branch says the roadway at Centerhill Road and Goodman Road has reopened after a crash that injured people. Officials had closed the road and urged motorists to use alternate routes.

The Olive Branch Police Department thanked Dave Mathis of Olive Branch Auto Sales for a donation to the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics, the department said in a social media post.

The Olive Branch Police Department said its main phone line is down and residents should dial 911 for all emergencies. The city’s vendor, Bright Speed, is working to restore service, Mayor Ken Adams said.

Officials issued a tornado watch at 8 p.m. Tuesday and opened the community safe room at 7312 Highway 51 for residents during the watch.

The community safe room at Horn Lake Elementary School was open during a tornado watch but has since closed after the threat diminished, authorities said.

Members of the Criminal Investigation Division were recognized for their rapid response and successful recovery of a four-year-old kidnapping victim in Tennessee.

A notice posted Tuesday said a tornado watch has been issued for the area until 10 p.m. CDT and the Community Safe Room at 7312 Highway 51 has been opened for residents.
