Lake Cormorant football player Zach Brown critically ill in Texas

Lake Cormorant football player Zach Brown remains critically ill at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston following an accidental exposure to paraquat, according to his family, which is asking the DeSoto County community for prayers and support.

Zach is receiving ECMO support and undergoing evaluation for a possible lung transplant. His family has stayed by his side as his care continues, while also facing the financial strain of being hundreds of miles from home.

The Brown family has close ties to local schools and public service. Zach’s mother, Sharla Brown, teaches at Lake Cormorant Middle School, and his father, Casey Brown, serves with the Tunica County Fire Department.

His brother, a member of the U.S. Air Force, has returned to be with the family. His sisters, Hannah and Amber, are also alongside them during his hospitalization.

Members of the Lake Cormorant football community and others who know Zach are coming together to support the student-athlete and his loved ones.

How to support Zach Brown and his family

A GoFundMe fundraiser has been established to help the Brown family cover expenses while they remain in Houston for Zach’s treatment. Those wishing to assist are encouraged to donate or share the campaign.

The family is also asking for continued prayers for Zach’s healing, wisdom for the medical professionals caring for him and strength for his loved ones.
