A Starkville man was sentenced on Friday, Sept. 15 to more than five years in prison for possessing a firearm as a convicted felon.

According to court documents, Antonio Hill, 38, previously pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm by a previously convicted felon. On Sept. 15, U.S. District Court Judge Glen H. Davidson sentenced Hill to 65 months imprisonment followed by a 3-year term of supervised release.

U.S. Attorney Clay Joyner of the Northern District of Mississippi, and Special Agent in Charge Jermicha Fomby of the FBI made the announcement.

This matter was investigated by the FBI and the Starkville Police Department.

This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program bringing together all levels of law enforcement and the communities they serve to reduce violent crime and gun violence, and to make our neighborhoods safer for everyone. On May 26, 2021, the Department launched a violent crime reduction strategy strengthening PSN based on these core principles: fostering trust and legitimacy in our communities, supporting community-based organizations that help prevent violence from occurring in the first place, setting focused and strategic enforcement priorities, and measuring the results.
