Pinkins to speak at 1st Congressional District Democratic Party Convention
Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate Ty Pinkins is scheduled to speak to fellow Democrats at The Mississippi Democratic Party First Congressional District Convention in Oxford this weekend.
The convention will commence at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 6 at Oxford Middle School on Bramlett Boulevard. At the event, participants will vote for executive committee members, select delegates for the Democratic National Convention, and engage in discussions on platform matters.
“This year marks a shift in Mississippi’s political landscape, aiming to create a new future beyond traditional constraints,” Pinkins said. “This Congressional Convention is vital for reshaping the state’s narrative and transforming its politics.”
In the upcoming November election, Pinkins will challenge Republican incumbent U.S. Senator Roger Wicker. Pinkins’ campaign is centered around advocating for legislation that benefits small-family farmers, promotes job creation, reduces unemployment rates, and improves educational opportunities.
A key aspect of his platform is to expand healthcare access and insurance coverage for Mississippi residents. Pinkins also support Medicaid expansion and emphasizes voting rights, endorsing simpler voter registration methods like same-day registration.
