Gunasekara announces run for PSC Commissioner

A Republican has stepped forward and has announced a run for Mississippi Northern District Public Service Commissioner. Current Northern District PSC Commissioner Brandon Presley, a Democrat, is expected to make a run for re-election in 2023 but has not officially announced a candidacy.  

Mandy Gunasekara of Oxford has started a campaign website announcing her run for office. Gunasekara, according to her website, is a veteran Republican climate and energy strategist, communicator, and environmental attorney who has a well-earned reputation for delivering results.

She most recently was Chief of Staff of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) under President Donald Trump. 

Prior to that, Gunasekara founded and ran the Energy 45 Fund, a Jackson-based non-profit informing the public about energy, environmental and economic gains made under the Trump Administration.
