Center Hill 7, Houston Second Baptist, Texas 6
Note: Houston Green’s three-run homer in the bottom of the seventh is a walk-off winner for the Mustangs. Center Hill had built a 4-0 lead through three innings before Second Baptist rallied and had a 6-4 lead going into the bottom half of the seventh. Jermikko Taylor also homered and drove in three runs for the game. Winning pitcher Cooper McCool struck out four in five innings on the mound.
Baton Rouge Catholic 4, Lewisburg 0
Note: Baton Rouge Catholic scored all four runs in the fifth inning. Lewisburg was held to just two hits in the loss, singles from Trae Cagle and Cooper Bennett. Stone McCaughey took the loss, but not before he struck out seven in the 4.1 innings pitched.
East Union 6, Hernando 2 (8 innings)
Note: East Union won the game with a four-run eighth inning. Hernando had tied the game at 2-2 after five innings. H Lawson led the Tigers’ attack with two hits, including a double. Topher Jones also homered for Hernando. Connor Young took the loss in relief with three runs allowed (two earned) in 2.2 innings. Young also struck out two.
Hernando 5, Starkville 1
Note: Hernando opened the game with three runs and added two for good measure in the seventh inning. Preston Johnson led an eight-hit attack with a pair of hits. Tyler Sullivan struck out two in earning the mound victory after pitching just 2.1 innings of the game.
Prep softball
DeSoto Central 6, North Pike 1
Note: Lady Jags scored four times in the fifth inning to break open the game. DeSoto Central also benefited from five North Pike errors. Mikayla Johnson had two hits, including a double, and two RBIs to lead the Lady Jag offense. Londen Armstrong also doubled for DeSoto Central. Colby Young struck out five in the complete-game victory.
DeSoto Central 10, Bryant, Ala. 5
Note: DeSoto Central scored four runs each in the first and second innings, pounding out 11 hits for the game. Londen Armstrong doubled and scored three times. Three separate players had two hits each and Makayla Jamison earned two RBIs. Jamison struck out two in four innings of relief for the victory, allowing one earned run.
Collierville 4, Northpoint Christian 2 (8 innings)
The Lady Dragons scored twice in the bottom of the eighth to take the victory. Northpoint scored twice in the sixth inning to tie the contest and send it to extra innings. Faith Ryan had two hits and Trinity Garvin doubled to lead the Lady Trojan offense. Despite taking the loss in the circle, Garvin struck out 11 in the circle for Northpoint.
