Saltillo Invitational cross country results
Hernando finished sixth, DeSoto Central was 10th and Olive Branch was 11th in the boys team standings at the Saltillo Invitational cross country meet on Saturday. Madison Central won the team championship with 83 points, three less than second-place Saltillo. Memphis East, Oxford and Germantown were in the top five.
Graham Weiss of Hernando was second in the individual race in a time of 15:57.20, 16 and a half seconds behind Bailey Kosko of Oxford. Gavin Brown of DeSoto Central was fifth in a time of 16:28.60. The top Olive Branch finisher was Caden Louder, who was 20th overall in a time of 17:30.80. Center Hill, who did not complete a full team, was led by Jared Smalley. He took 38th place in a time of 18:12.20.
The Hernando girls took second in their race and Kaitlyn Burge was the individual winner. Madison Central was also the girls team champion with 56 points to Hernando’s 69. Saltillo was third, followed by Northwest Rankin and Oxford. DeSoto Central took eighth place and Olive Branch was 11th in the team standings. Center Hill had runners but did not fill a full team. Maggie Linville paced their efforts with an 11th place finish in a time of 21:21.20.
The top DeSoto Central finish came from Layla McGuire, who was 12th overall in a time of 21:27.60. Maykyn Johnson was the best Olive Branch finish, 42nd in a time of 23:30.80.
Southern Showcase cross country results
Lewisburg runners competed Saturday in a large cross country meet, the Southern Showcase, held in Huntsville, Alabama.
Running in the Boys Blue Division, the Patriot harriers were led by Jackson Dickerson, who finished 40th in a clocking of 16:58.57. As a team, Lewisburg was 34th with 897 points among 55 schools who took part.
Competing in the Girls Blue Division, Kaydi Blanchard was 13th overall with a time of 20:11.22. As a team, Lewisburg took 14th place among 42 schools with 428 points.
