  • Class 6A North: Ridgeland at Lake Cormorant (10-0)
  • Class 6A North: Canton at Center Hill (8-2)

Lake Cormorant and Center Hill Open at Home in 6A

Lake Cormorant enters the playoffs as one of the best stories in north Mississippi this fall. The Gators finished the regular season 10-0, closing with a 42-14 win at Olive Branch on Nov. 5 after a hard-fought 14-6 home win over Grenada the week before. They open the Class 6A bracket at home against Ridgeland.

Center Hill also hosts a first-round 6A game. The Mustangs come in at 8-2 after back-to-back wins, including a 30-29 thriller at South Panola in the regular-season finale. Canton visits the Mustangs on Friday.

Elsewhere in the 6A North bracket, South Panola plays at Neshoba Central and Grenada goes to Warren Central.

Three County Teams in the Class 7A Bracket

DeSoto Central (7-3) will host Germantown in the 7A North bracket. The Jaguars lost 38-0 at unbeaten Tupelo in the finale but went 7-3 with a win over county rival Hernando.

Hernando (7-3) faces one of the longest trips of the first round, going to Madison Central. The Tigers closed the regular season with a 31-14 win at Southaven.

Horn Lake (2-8) gets a playoff berth and travels to Oxford. The Eagles head into the postseason after scoring 50 points against Lewisburg in their last game.

The other 7A North game sends Starkville to Tupelo.
