Patriots take North Half Team wrestling crown over DeSoto Central

Lewisburg defeated DeSoto Central 62-17 Saturday afternoon to win the Mississippi Wrestling Foundation boys’ North Half Team Dual championship at Lewisburg.

Six teams competed with the top four advancing to the State Team Dual Championships next Saturday.

Lewisburg advanced to the finals with a first round bye as the top-seeded team, followed by a 72-11 victory in the semifinals over Oxford.

DeSoto Central reached the finals with a 48-35 victory over Tupelo and a 59-23 victory over second-seeded Saltillo in the semifinals.

Tupelo won the consolation title with a 46-36 win over North Pontotoc.

The top four teams advanced to the MWF State Team Dual Championships next Saturday at St. Andrew’s Episcopal School in Ridgeland.

In the girls’ North Half tournament held at the same time Saturday in Lewisburg, Oxford won the team title with a 60-12 championship match result over North Pontotoc. Saltillo took third place with a 36-30 win over South Pontotoc.
