Hustle deal rights for Boatwright to Mad Ants
The Memphis Hustle have announced a trade with the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, acquiring the returning player rights to JaKeenan Gant, Naz Mitrou-Long and the Mad Ants’ own 2021 second round pick in exchange for the returning player rights to Bennie Boatwright and the Hustle’s own 2021 second round pick.
Gant (6-8, 220) appeared in 25 games (two starts) last season for Ulsan Mobis Phoebus of the Korean Basketball League, averaging 9.4 points and 4.1 rebounds in 12.9 minutes per game while shooting 46.7 percent overall, 37.3 percent from 3-point range and 68.6 percent from the free-throw line. Gant also appeared in seven games with the Saskatchewan Rattlers of the Canadian Elite Basketball League and three games with Fort Wayne in 2020-21. Prior to turning pro, Gant played two seasons at the University of Missouri and two seasons at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
Mitrou-Long (6-4, 218) appeared in 13 games (four starts) last season for Fort Wayne, averaging 13.2 points, 6.1 assists and 4.7 rebounds in 25.9 minutes per game while shooting 43.8 percent from the floor, 33.3 percent from 3-point range and 85.2 percent from the free-throw line. Mitrou-Long has appeared in five games for the Indiana Pacers (2019-20) and 15 games for the Utah Jazz (2017-19), holding career NBA averages of 1.7 points and 1.2 assists in 6.6 minutes per game. Prior to turning pro, Mitrou-Long played four seasons at Iowa State University, where he was named to the All-Big 12 Second Team during his senior season.
Boatwright (6-10, 235) appeared in 15 games last season for the Hustle, averaging 12.7 points and 6.6 rebounds in 24.1 minutes per game. Prior to joining the Hustle, Boatwright played at USC for four seasons, where he was named to the All-Pac 12 First Team as a senior.
