Campbell sets Lewisburg swim record as Patriots, Hernando sweep county volleyball matches

Quinlan Campbell set a Lewisburg swimming record Thursday, while the Patriots and Hernando claimed three-set victories in county volleyball matchups to lead DeSoto County’s Sept. 10 varsity results.
Campbell finished second in the 200-yard individual medley in 2 minutes, 22.97 seconds at the Tupelo Aquatic Center, a time the Lewisburg swim team confirmed as a school record. Lewisburg competed against Tupelo and Oxford.
Lewisburg, Hernando take county sweeps
Lewisburg defeated visiting Southaven 25–13, 25–19, 25–11. The Patriots’ official volleyball account posted the final score, confirming the sweep even though the result had not yet appeared on MaxPreps during the morning check.
Hernando beat visiting Horn Lake 25–15, 25–9, 25–12, winning each set by double digits. The Tigers improved to 14–7 overall and 5–1 in district play in the posted standings; Horn Lake fell to 3–13.
Lake Cormorant also won in straight sets, defeating South Panola 25–15, 25–16, 25–14. Laylie Moore supplied 14 kills, 14 digs and six aces, while Kinsley Stevens added 10 kills, 12 digs and four aces, according to the match statistics posted on MaxPreps.
Micayiah Thompson led the Gators with 15 digs. Kayla Gonzalez recorded 19 assists, and Emma Arnold added 13. Lake Cormorant totaled 18 aces and improved to 7–9 overall and 5–2 in district play.
Center Hill swept visiting Saltillo 25–16, 25–21, 25–17, moving to 7–4 overall and 6–0 in district play in the posted standings.
Olive Branch defeated visiting Grenada 3–0. Individual set scores and player statistics were not included in the report. Those four match results were reported on MaxPreps.
Stock, Smith win twice in the pool
Campbell also placed second in the 100 freestyle. Jake Stock won the 200 individual medley and 100 butterfly, while Anderson Smith won the 500 freestyle and 100 breaststroke, according to Lewisburg’s official meet reports.
Emma Hood won the girls’ 200 freestyle, and Lewisburg’s girls won the 400 freestyle relay. Logan Clay placed second in the boys’ 100 butterfly and third in the 200 freestyle. Dylan Johnson finished third in both the 100 and 500 freestyle.
Evie Evans and Cole Walker each earned third place in the 100 backstroke in their respective races. Addi Black placed third in the girls’ 500 freestyle, with Aubrey Hood fourth. Lewisburg’s boys and girls each finished second in the 200 freestyle relay. Overall team scores were not yet reported in the sources checked.
Northpoint boys sixth at Shelby Farms
Northpoint’s boys finished sixth among nine scoring teams with 171 points at the MYA High School XC Meet No. 1 at Shelby Farms in Memphis, according to the official timing results.
Aiden Hoshell led the Trojans in 20th place, completing the varsity 5-kilometer race in 21:21. Eli McKinney finished 35th in 22:26, followed by Eli Winebrenner in 38th at 22:31.
In the girls’ varsity race, Campbell Phillips placed 17th in 26:07, and Chloe King finished 43rd in 30:26. Northpoint did not have a girls’ team score listed in the results.
Results still outstanding
Northpoint’s Thursday girls’ varsity soccer match against Harding Academy: result not yet reported. The same was true for its boys’ golf appearance in the Memphis FCA Invitational at Memphis National Golf Club, based on the school athletics sources checked. A result for Center Hill’s Sept. 8 golf event at Cherokee Valley also remained unavailable.
