Woman dies in crash south of Hernando

A woman from Sarah, Mississippi has died as a result of a two-vehicle crash south of Hernando Thursday morning. 

The Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP) says troopers were called out about 8:10 a.m. to U.S. Highway 51 near Wheeler Road. According to MHP, a southbound vehicle driven by Crystal Parks, age 23 of Sarah, collided with a northbound vehicle driven by Catlin Carlisle, age 31 of Coldwater.  

MHP reports Parks died of injuries suffered in the crash and Carlisle was taken to a hospital with what was termed as “moderate injuries”. Highway 51 was closed to traffic for a time while the crash was being investigated.

The Highway Patrol says the crash is still under investigation.

    I am so saddened by Crystal’s death. We were co-workers and I always enjoyed talking to her. She had made it her goal to serve our country again in the military. No doubt she will be greatly missed.
