What’s closed on Independence Day
Independence Day, July 4, means government offices, financial institutions and mail service will not be in operation that day in celebration of America’s birthday.
Municipal, county, state and federal offices will be closed on the Fourth. Garbage collection services will also not be operating and in many cases, Tuesday collection days will move one day ahead, as will the rest of the week. Monday collection schedules will remain on Monday on July 3.
As Independence Day is a federal holiday, most banking facilities will be closed on July 4. Online banking services and ATMs will be available for use. The stock market will not be operating as NASDAQ and the New York Stock Exchange are closed.
The U.S. Postal Service will be closed and there will be no regular mail delivery or package delivery.
DeSoto County Supervisors will meet in regular session on Monday, July 3. City Boards of Aldermen will not meet on Tuesday, July 4 but will meet the following evening, Wednesday, July 5.
