The mayor and Board of Aldermen proclaimed April 21, 2026, as Kahlil Benson Day, city officials said. Officials said Benson distinguished himself in athletics, academics and community service in Southaven during his youth.
City officials said Benson graduated from Southaven High School and that his college career earned him numerous honors and included participation in multiple football championships and bowl games.
The mayor’s report noted that Southaven is marking its 46th birthday and that Springfest is scheduled this week at Snowden Grove Park, the city said.
Officials thanked 10th Inning for a donation to the city’s animal shelter and reminded residents that the Board of Aldermen meets the first and third Tuesdays of each month. Citizens may attend meetings in person, and sessions are livestreamed, the city said.
