Southaven Fire Department Recruiting EMS Drivers, Firefighters and Paramedics
SOUTHAVEN, Miss. — The Southaven Fire Department is accepting applications for several public safety positions as it continues to expand to meet the needs of the city’s growing population.
Open positions include EMS driver, firefighter and paramedic, according to the department. Starting salaries range from $56,000 for EMS drivers to $79,500 for paramedics, with firefighters earning $62,000 annually.
Applicants for firefighter positions must be certified firefighters or able to obtain reciprocity through the Mississippi State Minimum Standards Board. Paramedic applicants must be nationally registered or eligible for reciprocity through the Mississippi Department of Health for EMT-P certification.
City officials said the department offers a comprehensive benefits package, including employee health insurance at no cost, optional spouse and family health coverage, and employee life insurance valued at up to $100,000. Employees are also enrolled in the Mississippi Public Employees’ Retirement System, with retirement eligibility after eight years.
Additional benefits include personal leave, holiday pay, medical leave, uniforms, stipends and overtime opportunities.
The department described the positions as an opportunity to serve the community while joining a rapidly growing fire and emergency services organization.
