Southaven Board Approves New Developments and Updates Property Code

The Southaven Mayor and Board of Aldermen convened last night to discuss various city matters, including updates to the Property Maintenance Code and new development proposals.

The board amended the Property Maintenance Code Ordinance to update Section 2.11 regarding blighted properties. They also approved plans for a Luke Bryan concert on July 23 at BankPlus Amphitheater.

Several development projects received approval, including a cell tower on the east side of Airways, north of Rasco; a new vehicle repair shop on Highway 51; and a wholesale discount store on Main Street. A smoke and vape store on Main Street was denied.

During the mayor’s report, officials discussed the thermoplast street striping program, an emergency IT equipment purchase, and preparations for bidding on the relocation of city fuel pumps. The city will hold a budget workshop on August 6, with a public hearing scheduled for September 1.
