The Panola County Sheriff’s Office warned that a citizen received a call from the “Jail Nurse” and the Panola County Jail asking the citizen to send money to get a family member out of jail. The office provided the warning in a post.
The office said it will never call someone and require money to release a person from jail, pay a fine or resolve a warrant.
The sheriff’s office also said a request to pay with gift cards should be treated as a red flag.
