Olive Branch police read to kindergarteners on stormwater protection
The Olive Branch Police Department said it read to kindergarten classes at Overpark Elementary School after being invited by DeSoto County Schools.
The department said the lesson, delivered through the program “Shelby’s Stormwater Adventure,” focused on protecting stormwater systems and keeping drainage areas clean.
The police department said students learned that pollutants and trash do not belong in community waterways and drainage areas. The department said officers enjoyed engaging with the students and teaching environmental stewardship.
The department’s social media post, the Olive Branch Police Department said, tagged Olive Branch Mayor Ken Adams, the City of Olive Branch government, DeSoto County government and Overpark Elementary School and said the officers look forward to returning next year.
