Olive Branch mayor urges stormwater conservation as summer begins

Olive Branch Mayor Ken Adams urged residents to review stormwater conservation steps for their homes as summer begins.

Adams told residents to wash water toys and cars on grassy surfaces so moisture soaks into the soil instead of running into storm drains, and to avoid pouring chemicals into storm drains or allowing them to enter the sewer system.

He also advised homeowners to repair or report water leaks promptly and to consider installing a rain barrel to capture runoff.

Adams recommended establishing part of a yard as a rain garden and said those measures can help reduce stormwater runoff and protect local waterways.
