Olive Branch officers read to children at McDonald’s ‘Cookie With a Cop’ event

The Olive Branch Police Department said officers visited the McDonald’s on Goodman Road to read to children during a “Cookie With a Cop” event aimed at building positive relationships with youth.

In a social media post, the department said officers spent time with children, shared stories and cookies, and enjoyed laughs outside of their regular duties. The department said the event gave officers an opportunity to connect with young people beyond the badge.

The post included the line, “Leaders of today are the shadows for tomorrow,” and said the department hoped each child walked away knowing they are valued, capable and destined for greatness.

The department thanked McDonald’s for the invitation and hospitality in the post and used community-focused tags to highlight the event.

Olive Branch police said moments like the event underscore the importance of investing in youth, encouraging education and building relationships in the community.
