Olive Branch, DeSoto County urge residents to use multiple alert methods as severe-weather risk rises

Olive Branch and DeSoto County officials urged residents on April 27 to have multiple ways to receive severe-weather warnings after the threat for that night was raised to an enhanced, 3-of-5 risk, city officials said.

Mayor Ken Adams and the Olive Branch Police and Fire departments said all modes of severe weather were possible and advised residents to remain weather aware, according to a city weather update.

The City of Olive Branch said residents can receive mobile alerts by texting “olivebranch” to 888777. The city also recommended smartphone apps, weather radios or text alerts as ways to get warnings.

DeSoto County Government and the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office also urged residents to monitor conditions and use multiple alert methods, the county said.
