Mississippi offers Blue Envelope program to assist drivers with autism
The Mississippi Department of Public Safety and Olive Branch Mayor Ken Adams are promoting the state’s Blue Envelope program, which is designed to support drivers with autism, officials said.
The Department of Public Safety said the program provides law enforcement with communication guidance and important contact information to help clarify interactions during traffic stops.
Residents interested in participating can apply by contacting or visiting their local Mississippi Department of Public Safety office, the agency said. In Olive Branch, the DPS driver’s license testing station is at 6569 Highway 305. More information is available at https://www.driverservicebureau.dps.ms.gov/Drivers/Types_of_Licenses.
Mayor Ken Adams said Mississippi has made tremendous progress in supporting individuals with autism and that the initiative aims to ensure safer, clearer interactions for everyone on the road.
