Mississippi News Group acquires RCTV 19 television station

RIPLEY-The Mississippi News Group, headquartered in Baldwyn, Mississippi, announces the acquisition of RCTV-19 in Ripley, Mississippi as of Wednesday, May 4th 2022.

RCTV-19,short for Ripley Community Television,has provided local news, sports and entertainment programming since 1999.

The station broadcasts over the MaxxSouth Network.

“We are excited to announce our acquisition of the assets of RCTV-19.We see a massive potential to provide community access to the local community, including television programming geared towards DeSoto County,” Mississippi News Group CEO Jon Myers said of the acquisition.

The Mississippi News Group is the largest digital media company in the state of Mississippi, with 22 websites under their corporate banner. 

Myers says he envisions their recent foray into television to move to a heavy digital presence in the coming months.

“RCTV-19 has a long programming history, and we will be sticking with their model for their local audience. We do see a potential to move their operations into a more regional presence and we will accomplish that by enacting measures to start streaming additional news,sports and entertainment content,” Myers said.
