Lewisburg Rallies From 0-2 Down to Win North Half Volleyball Title
The Lewisburg Patriots are headed back to the state championship match.
Lewisburg went on the road to Madison and rallied from two sets down to beat the Germantown Mavericks for the MHSAA North Half volleyball title, taking the final three sets 25-19, 26-24 and 15-7 after dropping the first two 24-26 and 15-25.
The Patriots jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the opening set but couldn’t hold it, falling behind 0-2 in the match. From there, Lewisburg dug in — battling from behind to take a tight fourth set 26-24 and force a decisive fifth, which the Patriots dominated 15-7 to seal the North Half crown.
Addison Cole powered the comeback with a monster all-around night: 32 kills, 16 assists and 17 digs. Hadleigh Woods anchored the defense with 33 digs to go with 6 assists and 3 aces, while Presley Meadows ran the offense with 32 assists, 13 digs and 2 aces.
The win moves Lewisburg to 34-8 on the season — and avenges a 3-2 loss to Germantown back on August 20.
Next up is the biggest match of the year. The Patriots travel to Ocean Springs on Thursday, October 15 for the state championship against the Greyhounds, who come in at 32-8 after a 3-2 win over Brandon.
