Jim Flanagan is retiring as CEO of the DeSoto County Economic Development Council, the Southaven Chamber said in a statement.
The chamber and the local business community praised Flanagan’s leadership, saying it left a lasting imprint on DeSoto County and helped shape a thriving economic landscape that has benefited businesses, families and communities, particularly in Southaven.
In the statement, the chamber credited Flanagan’s vision, dedication and steady commitment to growth for elevating the region and highlighted the partnerships and opportunities he championed. The chamber added, “If you look up the definition of economic development in the dictionary, it should probably say see Jim Flanagan.”
The Southaven Chamber extended its gratitude for Flanagan’s work, called his retirement well-earned and said he will be missed. The chamber also said it hopes he will remain connected to the community he helped build.
