Inmates re-arrested after court order release

DeSoto County Sheriff’s officials say two inmates from the county’s Adult Detention Center, released on a court order on contempt of court charges, are back in jail.

After their release, it was learned that Chad Johnson and Justin Alexander, had open indictments for non-violent drug offenses. 

Johnson was re-arrested without incident in DeSoto County and Alexander was caught without incident in Memphis.  

Johnson, age 53 of Hernando, was being held on possession of a controlled substance/ habitual offender charged, in addition to the contempt of court charges, dating back to early April.  

Alexander, age 38 of Memphis, had been held on drug charges along with habitual possession of a weapon by a felon.
