Individual found dead in Southaven home, suspect in custody
Southaven police are investigating the death of an individual at a local residence Friday morning.
A call was received about an unresponsive individual at a home on Bridgewater Drive. Officers discovered the individual was dead when they arrived on the scene.
Investigators were able to quickly identify and locate a suspect in connection with the death who was known to both parties. Police added in the release that this was an isolated incident.
Friday evening, District Attorney Matthew Barton identified the suspect, who has been arrested on capital murder charges. Barton also offered a further comment on Friday’s incident.
“At this moment, I can’t comment on the tragic loss of a child’s life before certain family is contacted,” Barton said. “However I can confirm that Jessica Tabor was arrested for capital murder. It’s a heart wrenching situation, and we are respecting the privacy of those most impacted by this painful loss. Southaven is an elite department, and we defer to their work during this investigation and will not release information before them.”
Tabor was booked into the DeSoto County Adult Detention Center in Hernando where she is being held without bond.
