Garden club hears pruning tips at meeting

The DeSoto Civic Garden Club held its monthly meeting on Feb. 1 at the M R. Davis Library in Southaven.

The program this month, “Making the Cuts – Everything you need to know before Snipping,” was presented by Master Gardener Spencer Bennett.  Mr. Bennett shared information on proper pruning techniques for trees, as well as plants in the garden.  

Meleiah Tyus also spoke to the group and discussed the annual public tree giveaway which will be held on Feb. 10  from 8 a.m.-12 noon at BankPlus Sports Center, 3335 Pine Tar Alley in Southaven. This event is sponsored by DeSoto County Soil and Conservation District.

DeSoto Civic Garden Club is a member of the  National Garden Clubs, Inc., Deep South Garden Clubs, Inc. and the Garden Clubs of Mississippi, Inc., Hills and Delta District.
