DeSoto County football scores from Week 9 brought one of the season’s biggest surprises: Lake Cormorant went on the road and knocked off Center Hill 14-9 in a 6A Region 1 battle. DeSoto Central and Lewisburg both picked up comfortable region wins Friday night, while Olive Branch, Hernando and Northpoint Christian came up short.

Region Races Tighten in DeSoto County
With three weeks left in the regular season, Lake Cormorant’s upset scrambles the 6A Region 1 picture. Center Hill, Lake Cormorant, Olive Branch, Grenada, Saltillo and South Panola are all in the mix, and the Mustangs still have trips to Olive Branch and South Panola plus a home game against Saltillo.
In 7A Region 1, Tupelo remains the team to beat. DeSoto Central, Hernando and Lewisburg are jockeying for position behind the Golden Wave, and several of those teams meet head-to-head over the next three weeks.
