The Olive Branch Police Department said officers read to kindergarten classes at Overpark Elementary to teach students how to protect stormwater systems and keep drainage areas clean.

Olive Branch Mayor Ken Adams, Police Chief Carlos Garcia and the Olive Branch Police Department congratulated Sgt. Juan Euceda on 10 years of service, the department said. The department praised his leadership and said he serves as a shift supervisor on the Patrol Alpha shift.

Northwest Mississippi Community College says Northwest Theatre premieres “Damn Yankees” tonight. Performances are scheduled April 17, 18, 24 and 25 at 7 p.m., and April 18, 19, 25 and 26 at 2 p.m., the college said.

The annual Playing With a Purpose Golf Tournament supports The Arc Northwest Mississippi, organizers said. Participants can form teams or sponsor the event to help fund the organization’s programs.

Organizers said the Grits & Government event will take place one week from today and will feature Jonathan Bigham of the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Department. The announcement said attendees can expect updates and a chance to connect with local leaders.

A bakery said its strawberry buttercream is made from an in-house recipe and called the pairing with strawberry cake unbeatable.
