Mayor Ken Adams, the Board of Aldermen and city staff welcomed Kelsey Roach to the Olive Branch Animal Shelter and Animal Control Department, the City of Olive Branch said. The announcement included the hashtag #MyCityofOB.

Organizers said a pancake breakfast and character meet-and-greet featuring the Easter Bunny and SpongeBob SquarePants friends will be held tomorrow from 9 a.m. to noon at Longview Point Baptist Church. All proceeds will benefit Hernando Parks, organizers said.

The Olive Branch Police Department offered condolences to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department after Deputy Michael Jimerson was killed in the line of duty last night, the department said. The city identified Mayor Ken Adams in the statement and said Jimerson’s family and colleagues were in its thoughts and prayers.

Deputy Michael Jimerson was shot and killed Wednesday night while responding to a disturbance call, Sheriff John Ledbetter said. The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation said a female suspect also died after gunfire was exchanged.
