Submitted article

April 23 is going to be a fabulous day! Come join the DeSoto Civic Garden Club at Longview Point Baptist Church, 1100 McIngvale Rd., Hernando, as the club celebrates its 20th anniversary with two fun events happening: A Garden Party Luncheon, featuring Felder Rushing, and a NGC Small Standard Flower Show.

Featured speaker for the Garden Party Luncheon, Felder Rushing, is Mississippi Delta’s Native Gardener, Author, Radio Host, and FreeThinking University Professor.

Felder, an 11th generation American gardener, has written syndicated newspaper columns for 40 years and is the live radio host of The Gestalt Gardener, one of National Public Radio‘s most popular gardening programs.  He has also authored numerous books and lectures across the country.

Money raised will be used by the club to fund a scholarship for a student attending Northwest Mississippi Community College majoring in Landscaping or Forestry.

Luncheon begins at 12:15 p.m. For ticket information contact Dawn Weiss at 262-496-1236. Limited tickets remain.

A National Garden Club Small Standard Flower Show will be held from 1-4 p.m., featuring Floral Designs, Horticulture and Educational Exhibits. The Flower Show will be open to the public, free of charge. Come celebrate with the DeSoto Civic Garden Club and see the designs created and horticulture grown by its members.

The DeSoto Civic Garden Club is a member of the National Garden Clubs Inc. and the Garden Clubs of Mississippi Inc., Hills and Delta District.
