Updated COVID-19 case, vaccination numbers

On Wednesday, the Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) reported 542 new cases of COVID-19 and there were 96 additional death reports in the state. 

Since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic in March 2020, the number of positive cases reported in the state is at 787,938 and there have been 11,954 people who have died from COVID-19 in Mississippi.

Information on vaccines is also available on the MSDH website. Vaccinations are available for all residents age 5 and older.

The newest MSDH report shows that, as of Feb. 23, 1,514,537 people in Mississippi are fully vaccinated and 3,725,346 doses have been administered in total. Forty-six percent of DeSoto County’s population are now fully vaccinated and 52 percent have had one dose of the vaccine.
