JACKSON, Miss. — The Mississippi Lottery announced Thursday that two local players hit significant benchmarks in Wednesday night’s Powerball drawing, splitting a total of $150,000 in prizes despite the national jackpot remaining unclaimed.
The largest win originated in Kosciusko, where a player purchased a ticket at Tobacco Warehouse 41. By matching four white balls and the Powerball, the ticket initially carried a $50,000 value. However, the player’s decision to purchase the $1 Power Play option proved lucrative, doubling the payout to $100,000.
In Fayette, a second player secured a $50,000 prize at Sprint Mart #66. This win occurred during the Double Play drawing, an additional feature where players use their numbers in a secondary drawing for an extra $1.
The main Powerball jackpot now rolls to an estimated $102 million for Saturday, Feb. 7. The cash option for that drawing is valued at approximately $46.1 million.
Lottery officials remind players that tickets for the $2 game must be purchased by 9:59 p.m. CT on drawing nights. Other upcoming opportunities include Friday’s Mega Millions jackpot, which has surged to $346 million, and Saturday’s Lotto America prize of $14.98 million. Mississippi Match 5 also offers a $136,000 jackpot for tonight’s drawing.
