On Wednesday, March 22, Commissioner John Caldwell, Northern Transportation District, presented Carroll County Sheriff Clint Walker with a truck for $1.00 to be used for future litter removal efforts in Carroll County.

“We need more counties participating like Carroll County,” said Caldwell. “Support from the Board of Supervisors teaming with Sheriff Walker and his team goes a long way in helping us battle the litter problem. It makes a real positive difference.”

Caldwell presented Sheriff Walker with the truck outside of his office in Carrollton. The program is part of a partnership between the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) and local counties that aims to remove litter from state right-of-ways.

Sheriff Walker won second place in the bag count for litter pickup from July 1, 2021, to June 30, 2022. The total bag count for litter pick up during this time on MDOT state-maintained highways in Carroll County was 4,797.
