Average gas prices inch near $5 a gallon
Americans going to get gas are feeling more pain in the pocketbook today. The American Automobile Association (AAA) indicated Wednesday that at least 15 states and the District of Columbia are seeing average regular unleaded gasoline prices at or above $5.00 a gallon.
California had the highest average pump price in the country at $6.39 according to AAA.
The national average gas price Wednesday was at $4.955 a gallon, AAA said.
Mississippi is among a group of states, primarily in the South and Midwest, with the lowest average prices in the country. The Magnolia State average Wednesday was $4.485 a gallon. Georgia’s average price of $4.375 was the lowest among states in the nation.
DeSoto County’s average price Wednesday was near the state average at $4.475.
