Aug. 12, 2025 – The Northpoint Christian School girls’ soccer team will kick off its season Tuesday at home against Munford, Tenn. with a 5 p.m. start, entering what head coach describes as a “rebuilding year” for the program.

The Trojans return only two seniors after graduating nine from last year’s squad. Despite the turnover, the team is eager for the challenge.

“We’re young, but we’ve got a really good group of girls, and they’re working hard,” the coach said. “We’re excited about what this group can do.”

Two juniors are expected to lead the way — including goalkeeper AC Dowdy. Now in her fourth year as the starting keeper, Dowdy is praised for her consistency, vocal leadership, and control of the defensive third.

“She brings a lot of stability to the back for us,” coach Ethan McClure said. “She commands her 18-yard box and really communicates well. It’s a spot I don’t have to worry about.”

The team also has a new offensive spark in junior midfielder Kathy Beach, who did not play last season while focusing on basketball. In her debut match, she scored a hat trick — the first of her career.

In district play, Northpoint expects stiff competition from familiar foes Lausanne, ECS, and St. George.

“We know the usual suspects will be tough,” McClure said. “But we’re ready to compete.”
