Olive Branch retires En’Dya Buford’s basketball jersey

Another jersey number is now hanging from the wall at Olive Branch High School’s Charlie Bibbs Gymnasium. Former Lady Quistor En’Dya Buford’s number 25 was retired during Senior Night on Thursday, Feb. 1, when Olive Branch played Grenada.  

Buford’s career at Olive Branch featured more than 2,000 career points. She was named Most Valuable Player in two state championship games, including a 40-point night in her senior year state championship game, Buford was named the 2020 Mississippi State Player of the Year and the 2019 Mississippi Gatorade Player of the Year. Buford was also named Miss Basketball along with other honors.  

A Memphis signee, Buford played 18 games over two seasons for the Tigers, then transferred to Jones College in Ellisville for one season, where she averaged 17.5 points per game in 27 contests.  

At Jones, Buford earned First Team All-Conference, First Team All-Region 23, NJCAA All-American Third Team, and World Exposure Report All-American Honorable Mention honors. She helped the team capture its seventh-straight Region 23 title and reached the NJCAA Division I quarterfinals. She was the second-leading scorer for the Bobcats, scoring 473 points (17.5 ppg) in 27 games with 26 starts.

This past season, Buford has been a part of the Old Dominion University program, where she is leading the Lady Monarchs in scoring at 11.4 points-per-game through 21 games, starting in all 21 matchups.  Old Dominion is 15-6 overall, and 7-4 in Sun Belt Conference play.
