A familiar face will return to the sidelines for the Northwest volleyball program this fall, as head coach Allison Burchyett has appointed David Culver to the role of full-time assistant coach.
Culver previously served in a volunteer assistant capacity during Burchyett’s first season in the spring of 2021, and he holds a wealth of volleyball experience as a coach with the Memphis Volleyball Academy and as the director of DeSoto Legacy volleyball.
“I am super excited to be back here in a full-time role,” Culver said. “I love this sport, and I love being able to engage, push and motivate these student-athletes. Coach Burchyett coached my daughter, so I have gotten to know the Burchyett family over the years. She has put together an amazing crew and I am pumped to work with her and be a part of this program.”
Culver’s most recent coaching stint was at Memphis Volleyball Academy last season and previously ran DeSoto Legacy from 2015-19. During his time with DeSoto Legacy, he fulfilled a variety of coaching roles for multiple teams.
“I am thrilled to have Coach Culver as an official part of our Northwest volleyball family,” Burchyett said. “He will add great levels of knowledge and experience to our program.”
Northwest will begin its 2023 campaign at the Pensacola State Tournament in Pensacola, Fla. from Aug. 17-18. The Lady Rangers will play in four matches against the host Pensacola State, Coastal Alabama-East, Enterprise State and Santa Fe College.
