20-year-old fatally shot in Horn Lake; 19-year-old arrested

Horn Lake police said officers responded about 11:15 p.m. on June 13 to 5291 Chickasaw Cv. after a report of a shooting. Officers found 20-year-old Kejuan Williams of Horn Lake deceased with a single gunshot wound to the head, the Horn Lake Police Department said.

Investigators identified the shooter as 19-year-old Elijah Avent of Horn Lake, who fled the scene, the department said. Avent was located and taken into custody on one count of murder and is being held at the DeSoto County jail without bond, the department said.

The department said the shooting appears to be an isolated incident and that the victim and the offender knew one another. The investigation is ongoing, and the department said there is no known motive at this time.
