Hustle season start pushed back to Jan. 5

The Memphis Hustle NBA G League has announced that the start of the regular season has been pushed back to Jan. 5 by the league in a release that was dated on Dec. 24.

“The delay will give teams an opportunity to safely return players to market after the Christmas holiday and to replenish their rosters following NBA Call-Ups,” said the league in the news release. “Information regarding games originally scheduled between Dec. 27 and Jan. 4 will be provided at a later date.”

For the Hustle, this means the start of the regular season will now be Jan. 5 at Salt Lake City. The regular season home opener is now Jan. 10 against Santa Cruz.

The three originally-scheduled games affected by the decision are the Dec. 30 game at Rio Grande Valley, and home games Jan. 2 against the Agua Caliente Clippers and Jan. 3 against the Texas Legends.

The games that were played before Christmas were part of the inaugural NBA G League Showcase Cup.
