Roughly 24 hours after earning MACCC Goalkeeper of the Week accolades, Northwest freshman Anna Kathryn Harrell has been chosen for the same honor on a national scale by the NJCAA.

Harrell went 3-0 last week, helping the third-ranked Lady Rangers to wins against then-No. 12 St. Louis and previous No. 16 Southwestern Illinois. Northwest also collected a win on Sunday against Mineral Area College, completing the strong week of competition.

A native of Tupelo, Harrell collected 15 saves in the three aforementioned matches, with 11 of those coming against Southwestern Illinois, a match that Northwest won by a narrow 1-0 margin. She only allowed one goal all week, which came late in the Lady Rangers’ 7-1 blowout of St. Louis.

For the season, Harrell is 6-0 and has 21 saves against one goal. She is the first national Player of the Week recipient this season and the first goalkeeper chosen for national honors since Addy McCann won NJCAA Goalkeeper of the Week accolades on October 19, 2022.

Northwest (7-0) will open MACCC competition on Friday, September 15 at Meridian. The match is slated for a 5 P.M. start time, with live coverage available at mcceagles.live.
