Two members of the Northpoint Christian School baseball team have earned statewide recognition for their play on the diamond this spring.
The Tennessee Baseball Coaches Association Monday released its All-State team and KL Farr and Jayden Parker of the Trojans were recognized as all-staters in Division 2-A.
Farr, who is committed to Arkansas, was selected as a pitcher. He had the second-lowest ERA in the state for all classifications this season and played outfield as well as throwing from the mound. Along with his play as a pitcher, Farr hit over .360 and had two home runs. He was also among the team leaders in runs-batted-in.
“KL had a phenomenal year for us on the mound and we knew anytime he was on the mound we had a really good shot at winning,” coach Stephen Kirkpatrick said. “He still progressed and got better as the season went along.”
Parker led the Trojans in hitting with a .380 batting average while playing primarily centerfield with some play in left field.
“Jayden struggled at the beginning of the season but came along and got really strong,” Kirkpatrick said. “He did a lot of things for us, both on offense and defense. The (Tennessee) Baseball Coaches Association recognizes both offense and defense.”
Kirkpatrick was also happy that his all-staters are not leaving the program.
“The best thing is they were juniors and they will be back again next year,” he said.
